This document outlines the standard procedure for recording bursting strength data of fabric samples at various stages of processing. Accurate and consistent data collection is crucial for quality control and process optimization in textile manufacturing. The following steps detail when and what data should be recorded to track changes in fabric strength throughout the production process.

1. Initial Bursting Strength of Fabric Before Loading Machine

Purpose: Establish a baseline measurement of the fabric's inherent strength before any processing. This serves as a reference point to assess the impact of subsequent treatments.

Procedure:

Select representative samples of the fabric roll or batch. Ensure samples are free from visible defects or irregularities.

Condition the samples according to standard testing conditions (temperature and humidity) as specified by relevant testing standards (e.g., ASTM D3786, ISO 13938-1).

Using a calibrated bursting strength tester (e.g., hydraulic or pneumatic type), clamp the fabric sample securely.

Apply increasing pressure to the fabric diaphragm until the fabric ruptures.

Record the bursting pressure (in psi or kPa) at the point of rupture.

Repeat the test on multiple samples (typically 5 or more) to obtain an average bursting strength value.



Record the following information:

Fabric identification (e.g., style number, lot number)

Date and time of testing

Testing conditions (temperature, humidity)

Bursting strength values for each sample

Average bursting strength

Standard deviation

Tester model and calibration date

Operator's initials

2. After Pretreatment

Purpose: Evaluate the effect of pretreatment processes (e.g., scouring, bleaching, mercerization) on the fabric's bursting strength. Pretreatment often involves harsh chemicals and mechanical actions that can weaken the fabric.

Procedure:

After the pretreatment process is completed, select samples from the treated fabric.

Condition the samples as before.

Perform the bursting strength test as described in Step 1.

Record the same information as in Step 1, noting that the samples have undergone pretreatment.

Compare the bursting strength values with the initial bursting strength to determine the impact of the pretreatment process. A significant decrease in bursting strength may indicate excessive chemical degradation or mechanical damage.



3. After Acid Wash

Purpose: Assess the impact of acid washing on the fabric's bursting strength. Acid washing is often used to achieve specific aesthetic effects or to modify the fabric's surface properties.

Procedure:

After the acid wash process, select samples from the treated fabric.

Condition the samples as before.

Perform the bursting strength test as described in Step 1.

Record the same information as in Step 1, noting that the samples have undergone acid washing. Include details of the acid wash process (e.g., acid concentration, temperature, duration).

Compare the bursting strength values with the bursting strength before acid washing to determine the impact of the process.



4. After Enzyme Treatment

Purpose: Determine the effect of enzyme treatments (e.g., cellulase treatment for denim) on the fabric's bursting strength. Enzyme treatments can modify the fabric's surface and hand feel, but may also affect its strength.

Procedure:

After the enzyme treatment process, select samples from the treated fabric.

Condition the samples as before.

Perform the bursting strength test as described in Step 1.

Record the same information as in Step 1, noting that the samples have undergone enzyme treatment. Include details of the enzyme treatment process (e.g., enzyme type, concentration, temperature, duration).

Compare the bursting strength values with the bursting strength before enzyme treatment to determine the impact of the process.

5. After Dyeing

Purpose: Evaluate the effect of the dyeing process on the fabric's bursting strength. Dyeing involves high temperatures, chemicals, and mechanical agitation, all of which can potentially affect fabric strength.

Procedure:

After the dyeing process is completed, select samples from the dyed fabric.

Condition the samples as before.

Perform the bursting strength test as described in Step 1.

Record the same information as in Step 1, noting that the samples have undergone dyeing. Include details of the dyeing process (e.g., dye class, dyeing method, temperature, duration).

6. After Finishing

Purpose: Assess the impact of finishing treatments (e.g., softening, water repellency, wrinkle resistance) on the fabric's bursting strength. Finishing treatments can alter the fabric's properties, but may also affect its strength.

Procedure:

After the finishing process is completed, select samples from the finished fabric.

Condition the samples as before.

Perform the bursting strength test as described in Step 1.

Record the same information as in Step 1, noting that the samples have undergone finishing. Include details of the finishing process (e.g., finishing agent, application method, curing conditions).

Compare the bursting strength values with the bursting strength before finishing to determine the impact of the finishing process.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

Regularly analyze the recorded bursting strength data to identify trends and potential issues.
